Hanvixolar, a company specializing in portable modular solar solutions, has launched its new product, SolarBrick 3, on Makuake, Japan’s largest crowdfunding platform. The campaign is accelerating the company’s global market expansion, achieving 2,500% of its funding goal within just one week.
This project features a third-generation solar panel product with a magnetic modular connection structure, highlighting key features such as up to 20W output, USB-C and USB-A port support, an expandable design of up to 15 connected panels, an ultra-slim 2.8 mm profile, and IP45-rated splash and dust resistance to appeal to Japanese consumers.
Earlier this year, Hanvixolar successfully completed its US Kickstarter campaign under the name SolarBrick Gen3, raising approximately KRW 200 million. Combined with the results of the earlier SolarBrick 1 and 2 projects on Japan’s Makuake prior to the US Kickstarter launch, the SolarBrick series has now recorded cumulative global crowdfunding sales of more than KRW 550 million across Kickstarter in the US and Makuake in Japan alone.
A representative from Hanvixolar stated, “Achieving consecutive success in the demanding markets of the United States and Japan proves that Hanvixolar’s technology is capable of creating products that truly meet the needs of consumers in both markets.” The representative added, “Going forward, we plan to continue validating the market potential of various new products through global crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter, Makuake, and ZecZec, and then accelerate expansion into official online and offline distribution channels.”
Koo Joon-hoi, Head of the Global Project Group at SETOWORKS, which oversaw all of Hanvixolar’s projects including those on US Kickstarter and Japan’s Makuake, said, “Global crowdfunding is no longer just a form of presales. It has become a strategic market entry method that verifies product competitiveness in overseas markets and connects directly to actual export performance.” He added, “Hanvixolar’s SolarBrick series has also achieved back-to-back success in the US and Japanese markets, demonstrating that Korean technology-based products can be highly competitive in the global market as well.”
He further noted, “It is particularly meaningful that by utilizing export vouchers, startups and SMEs can pursue overseas expansion with a relatively lower financial burden.”
